Krasnodar, 12 May – Yug Times. Deputies of the Krasnodar Krai Legis lative Assembly have reportedly approved the overwhelming majority of federal draft laws considered during its 81st session.

The parliamentarians reviewed 33 legislative initiatives and supported 31 of them. Chairperson of the regional parliament, Yuri Burlachko commented on several of the proposals, highlighting amendments concerning the protection of cultural heritage sites.

“The proposals aimed at improving the federal legal framework are in line with the position of deputies in the Kuban parliament,” Mr. Burlach ko said. “Of particular relevance to us is the joint initiative put forward by colleagues from Arkhangelsk Oblast, the Republic of Karelia and St Petersburg to amend the federal law ‘On Cultural Heritage Sites of the Peoples of the Russian Federation’.”

The proposed amendments would expand the list of works permitted during the adaptation of historic sites for modern use by including survey and research work. According to Burlachko, this would help preserve the architectural and artistic elements that determine the historical value of monuments while integrating them into contemporary life.
