Krasnodar, 7 May – Yug Times. Authorities in Novorossiysk have discussed mechanisms for alerting residents to potential threats and ensuring access to secure shelters.
The key tool for public warning is the municipal alert system, which includes 151 sirens and voice broadcast units. In addition, 14 systems operate at industrial sites. A further 20 devices are scheduled for installation in 2026. According to Mayor Andrei Kravchenko, the availability and accessibility of shelters remain a pressing issue. The city currently relies on dedicated protective structures as well as 377 adapted underground shelters. These facilities are regularly inspected, with up-to-date information published through official channels.
“When everyone performs their duties with full commitment, we will achieve our main goal,” Kravchenko said. “The situation is still far from ideal. Management companies must improve their performance — they have had more than enough time in recent years to prepare shelters properly.”
